The death of a 22-year-old man after an alleged violent confrontation with two Afghan refugees on the night of 08 September to 09 September 2018 sparked right-wing protests and riots in the eastern German city of Koethen. Police stated, the German man, seriously ill with heart disease, succumbed to acute heart failure, which was not directly related to the injuries suffered during an alleged fight with the two Afghans.
