Descriere: epa11409646 Officials recount the invalid votes cast at the Budapest mayoral election in the National Election Office (NVI) in Budapest, Hungary, 14 June 2024. NVI officials are looking for valid votes erroneously classified as invalid by inspecting those ballot sheets bearing more than one mark. At the 09 June election, incumbent mayor Gergely Karacsony, the candidate of the Dialogue-Greens-Democratic Coalition-Socialists alliance prevailed with 371,466 votes, while his challenger, David Vitezy, the candidate of the opposition LMP and a civic movement received 371,142. The recount was initiated by the runner-up, Vitezy on 12 June, claiming a systemic error that led to a record number of 24,592 invalid votes at the unprecedentedly tight race for the Budapest mayoral seat.
