Two bodies were exhumed by administration from the graveyard in Handwara, where they were buried by police. The family members of three of the four persons killed in the Hyderpora gunfight had alleged that their wards were innocent and not connected with militancy. Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar on 16 November 2021 said that four people, including a foreign militant, his local associate, an Over Ground Worker (OGW) and a building owner were killed in a gunfight in the Hyderpora area of Srinagar on the evening of 15 November 2021.
