According to the Health Authorities of Sri Lanka, 118 Covid-19 deaths were reported in Sri Lanka on August 10, the highest number recorded on a daily basis. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Medical Association has called on the government to close the country for at least two weeks to prevent an increase in COVID-19 patients. The Indian Ocean island nation is currently in the midst of the third wave of COVID-19 and the number of cases is increasing day by day.
