According to the Health Authorities of Sri Lanka, 111 Covid-19 deaths were reported in Sri Lanka on August 9, the highest number recorded on a daily basis. The Indian Ocean island nation is currently in the midst of the third wave of COVID-19 and the number of cases is increasing day by day. Sri Lanka has so far recorded a total of 332,947 COVID-19 cases with 5,222 deaths while a total of 11,260795 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine and 3,249670 have already received the second one.
