A clothing-designer-turned-cook in Chongqing has created a stunning chemistry between art and steamed bun.\r\n Ouyang Qinyun, 40, is a celebrity Chinese social media cook who specializes in steamed bun, or mantou in Chinese. \r\n Usually made with all-purpose flour, yeast and water, mantou is a basic staple in China, especially in the north.\r\n 'I learned that steamed buns could be made into different shapes. That really inspired me,' Ouyang said. \r\n Since 2019, she has created more than 20,000 steamed buns in over 1,000 shapes ranging from animals and animated figures. Her innovative products have won her a lot of praise both from home and abroad.\r\n Ouyang also launched a series of training courses for stay-at-home mothers and pastry lovers, as a way to pass on the technique of making Chinese pastry.
