Descriere: epa08950932 (FILE) - Future Forward Party leader Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit (L) flashes the three-finger salute, a symbol of resistance in the kingdom, after arriving to a verdict hearing at the Constitutional Court in Bangkok, Thailand, 20 November 2019 (reissued 20 January 2021). Media reports state that Thailand's Digital Economy and Society Ministry (DES) on 20 January 2021, filed a criminal complaint against banned opposition politician Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit for defaming the monarchy. The DES did not immediately specify what actions the complaint would cite, local media reported. After last year a court ordered a pro-democracy opposition party to dissolve, Thailand has seen a wave of anti-government protests led by students that stretched to criticism of the Thai King's wealth, political role and personal life. Thailand's royal defamation law, also known as lese majeste, punishes defamation from three to fifteen years in prison for each count.
