The soldiers performed the crossing of the river Elbe on their way to the Altmark military training area for the NATO exercise âHeidesturmâ (Heide storm) for a NATO mission in Lithuania. The transfer to Lithuania is planned for early 2021. âHeidesturmâ runs from 19 October to 06 November 2020. Originally planned under participation of the Dutch army, the Dutch participation was cancelled due to a coronavirus case on the Dutch side. 250 Soldiers and 100 vehicles, amongst them, Leopard 2 tanks, Marder armored personnel carriers and the armored Boxer GTK where part of the ferry service.
