Sarbu Memorial House, a culture project initiated by visual artist Ion Barbu, located in Petrila city, 310 Km north-east from Bucharest, in Jiului Valley mining site,15 July 2020. The garbage can mocks a mine wagon, and writes some communist era slogans (L-R): 'MORE COAL TO THE COUNTRY', 'LEARN, LEARN, LEARN!', and 'Long live 23 August' (reffering to a communist open air celebration before 1989). Ion Dezideriu Sirbu (1919 - 1989), the most prodigious man of culture in the city of Petrila, a Romanian philosopher, novelist, essayist and dramatist, was a victim of the communist regime, spending about 6 years as a political prisoner. He was born in a miners family, and after being released from the communist jail, he worked as a wagon driver in the Petrila mine, for few months. at the Petrila coal mine. At the initiative of the artist Ion Barbu, in Petrila the memorial house I.D. Sarbu, where the playwright lived, was arranged as a museum. Barbu is a Romanian cartoonist, member of the Union of Visual Artists in Romania, professor at the Higher School of Journalism in Bucharest (Press Caricature classes), winner of about 50 awards at 400 national and international exhibitions, in which he participated with his works. In Petrila city, Barbu created the Mother's museum (in the house he lived as a kid), the Memorial House of I,D Sirbu (the most prodigious man of culture in the city of Petrila), and he also created the 'Museum of the Romanian Plumber' ( decicated to arts installations) in the mining city of Petrosani, Jiului Valley.
