The Grand Mufti of Kashmir has urged people to offer Friday prayers at home and called for having only three people offer the weekly congregational prayers in mosques as a measure to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 in the region. The restrictions on the movement and assembly of people in Indian Kashmir by the regional government continued for the ninth day on Friday as most mosques and shrines were shut to avoid large gatherings for congregational prayers. One COVID-19 patient died while there have been 12 confirmed coronavirus cases in Indian Kashmir of which one has recovered.
