The Turkish Restaurant building \r\nwas abandoned since the US invasion of Iraq on April 2003, after parts of the building were destroyed during the battles, the building became a powerful symbol of the protests when the Iraqi protesters controled the building following clashes with anti-riot police forces, and hanged up the Iraqi national flag and the pictures of the protesters who were killed during the ongoing protests in Iraq.
