Descriere: epa07748438 Romanian Interior Minister Nicolae Moga, 66, leaves the room after announcing his resignation, amid the Caracal tragedy scandal, at the Government Headquarters in Bucharest, Romania, 30 July 2019. The surprising decision comes just six days after his appointment and taking the oath, given that the MAI official had to submit the report of the police intervention and investigation on Alexandra's case later in the day. Alexandra Macesanu, a 15-year-old girl from Dobrosloveni village, Olt County, disappeared on 24 July after leaving for Caracal while hitchhiking. She was kidnapped, beaten and raped and despite she repeatedly called the emergency number 112 for three times, police was not able to locate and save her in real time, and the girl was killed by the kidnapper. The 66 years old man suspected of her murder was detained by the police, and also admitted, in front of prosecutors to the murder of Alexandra Maceasanu, as well as another young woman, Luiza Melencu, 18, who is missing since mid April 2019. Public opinion was outraged by the way Romanian authorities handled the kidnapping case. EPA/ROBERT GHEMENT
