The bodies of 30 migrants who lost their lives while trying to reach Spanish territory by crossing the Strait are buried in this cemetery of Barbate, and only two of them rest with their names on their graves since the major part of them were not identified either claimed for their repatriation. The migrant crisis in the Strait has taken the cemetery of San Paulino to study the regrouping of the mortal remains of the migrants in a same grave, what according to Pedro Alvarez, responds to a matter of capacity because the migrant situation will never stop and the cemetery requires more capability for the rest of inhabitants.
