The governing coalition in Berlin struggled about the future of former President of the Federal Office for Constitutional Protection (Bundesamt fuer Verfassungsschutz, BfV) Hans-Georg Maassen. Maassen will be appointed as Seehofer's Special Advisor for European and International Affairs in the Interior Ministry after the Social Democrats party (SPD) called for a renegotiation of the promotion Maassen to Secretary of State.
