epa06706376 A large, so-called 'skylight' was created when the roof of a tube collapsed, exposing the intense glow from the heat within an upper flow field just east of a vent of the east rift zone of the Kilauea volcano on Hawaii, 01 May 2018 (issued 02 May 2018). Media reports on 02 May 2018 state that local authorities are now officially warning of a possible eruption of the Kilauea after an underground barrier of the Pu'u 'O'o crater collapsed and seismic activities and more than 250 local earthquakes had been detected until 01 May evening. The collapse of Pu'u 'O'o crater's floor reportedly continues to erode its walls and generates huge explosions of ashes. EPA/BRUCE OMORI
