Following the fire onboard the Singapore flagged MV X-Press Pearl on 20 May off the Colombo port and some of its containers falling into the sea, huge quantities of debris and especially pellets used for the manufacture of plastic, called nurdles, polluted the ocean and washed ashore along the western and north-western beaches of the island. Since then, more than 30 turtles, a dolphin, sea birds and fish have been reported washed ashore and marine and wildlife authorities are investigating whether there are any links between the marine deaths and the ship's cargo. The Sri Lanka Navy, Coast Guard and other armed forces personnel cleaned the beach of the debris and have stored the cleared material in sealed stores for further investigations. Czech people on 21 June mark the 30th anniversary when the last transport with Soviet soldiers left Czechoslovakia. \r\nAfter 21 August 1968, the so-called Central Group of Soviet troops, consisting of approximately 75,000 soldiers with heavy equipment and air force, settled on Czechoslovak territory on the basis of a forced agreement on the temporary stay of troops. Almost immediately after 17 November 1989, pressure for their departure began to mount, and a Czechoslovak-Soviet agreement on the departure of the Soviet Army was subsequently concluded. \r\nThis more than year and a half-long leaving/displacement is commemorated in a large-scale exhibition of photographs prepared by Post Bellum, which will be on display until the end of July 2021.
